Ayurveda is the science of life and well being . A 5000 year old system of natural healing that has its origin in Vedic culture of India.
Ayurveda is a holistic approach that helps people live long,well-balanced and healthy lives. The genesis and essence of Ayurveda is rejuvenation. Achieved through the harmony and balance of the mind , body and soul . Ayurveda was codified into text called Charaka Samhita by the legendary famous physician Charaka in the 2nd century B.C. Ayurveda is timeless knowledge of complete health for individual and our society contained in the sacred Vedas. Ayurveda targets on healing at all three levels – physical, spiritual & mental.
According to the Ayurveda everything in this universe, including human body, is composed of 5 basic elements:
Space
Air
Fire
Water
Earth
These 5 elements combine to produce 3 primary life forces or Doshas - Vata, Pitta & Kapha. All humans have the 3 doshas. Although there is usually seen predominance of one or more dosha. This gives the unique nature or constitution of the person. All these Doshas should be in proper balance for good health.
Today, Ayurveda traditions and healing systems find new meaning and are now gradually being revived. After centuries of testing Ayurvedic science has proven effective in treating, allaying concerns about side-effects. And it effectively tackles the cause rather than merely alleviating the symptoms. Done by maintaining the natural balance.
