With colder weather our skin can get very dry, chapped and sometimes itchy. Exfoliating with a gentle natural product can allow for the dead skin cells of epidermis to be removed, so moisturizing the skin becomes much more effective and can provide deeper penetration for better protection against the harsher environmental factors.

These are all very good tips; diet, sleep, and a good skin regimen is extremely beneficial for ones' overall health/longevity. It positively counteracts any negative effects of the outside world; weather, smog, etc.
